BMW’s battle of the 7’s

BMW has officially lauched it’s ultimate luxury SUV the X7 in India along with the updated luxury sedan The 7 series.

The 7 series is an update and hence gets lots of interior as well as exterior updates. On the other hand the X7 makes its debut in India for the Luxury SUV segment rivaling the Mercedes GLS . It has everything more refined and luxurious than it’s already launched younger brother the BMW X5.

What the X7 has to offer

It has huge kidney grills (BMW’S signature) complimented it’s dazzling laser light technology headlights and L-shaped DRls. The aluminum roof rails and the electronically adjustable mirrors just gives the big boy a more classic look. With the 21 Inches alloy wheels along with 285/45R21 tyres and all the beefy looks makes the SUV look like a big boys toy. The rear of the X7 is quite clean and consists of an upright tailgate with massive bootlid and aluminum inserts around the dual exhaust tips . Two sleek wrap round LED taillamps blend into and aluminum strip that runs across the rear of the suv. Interior : It comes loaded with luxury complimented by 12.3 inch display and instrument cluster and infortainment system featuring apple carplay and Android auto. BMW’s live cockpit offers professional navigation system and voice activated interactive system . Other note Worthy thing are five- zone air-conditioning, onboard WiFi,a wireless charging pad and more. Aside from that all it also offers 2 10.2 inch rear seat entertainment system , six colour ambient lighting , a panoramic glass roof and 16- speakers Harman Kardon audio system.

Power

Under the hood , the X7 is offered with turbo charged petrol and Diesel engines . The BMW X7 xDrive40i is powered by a 3.0-litre six-cylinder petrol engine that produces an output of 340bhp and maximum torque of 450Nm at 1,500 – 5,200rpm. The car accelerates from 0 -100kmph in 6.1 seconds. The BMW X7 xDrive30d is powered by a 3.0-litre six-cylinder diesel engine that produces an output of 265bhp and a maximum torque of 620Nm at 1,500 – 2,500rpm. The car accelerates from 0 -100kmph in just 7 seconds.
The 7 series
BMW has launched the facelifted 7 Series in India with prices starting at Rs 1.22 crores (All-India ex-showroom). There are three diesel powered versions and three petrol powered versions with the latter getting in a plugin hybrid model. There are multiple colour options and three trim packages DPE, DPE signature and M Sport.


This facelifted BMW 7 Series was unveiled late last year and is a mid-life update for the German automaker’s flagship sedan. Highlights of this mid-life update comprise new bumpers, laser headlamps and a massive kidney grille. Inside, there’s a host of new trim options along with BMW’s latest iDrive system. As standard, every version gets multi-zone climate control, leather upholstery, electric seats with cold and hot massage function and a digital instrument cluster.
The petrol engine on offer is the 3.0-litre inline-6 producing 322bhp/450Nm with an eight-speed automatic sending powering to the rear wheels. The diesel engine on offer is also a 3.0-litre inline-6 producing 262bhp and a monstrous 620Nm of torque. This engine too gets an eight-speed automatic sending power to the rear wheels.


This update of the 7 Series sees the introduction of the 745Le xDrive for the Indian market. It is powered by an inline-6 petrol motor producing 286bhp/450Nm. In addition, it gets an electric motor producing 113bhp/265Nm. It’s got an electric only mode range of 55km and a top-speed of 110kmph. As a part of the package it gets xDrive and optional four seat layout. The diesel powered versions can be had in the DPE, DPE signature or M Sport trim while the 740Li is available only in the DPE Signature trim. The top-of-the-line M760Li gets a 600bhp 6.6-litre V12 with all-wheel drive as standard.
