Why the newcomers are going immediate demand in the Indian automotive market.

•MG motors crosses the 20,000 booking mark in just one and a half months.

•6 Months of waiting list on some of the variants of HG Hector

• 6,000 reservations for the KIA Saltos in day

• MG stops it’s reservation temporarily from 19 july due to excessive demand

MG motors the Chinese owned British company and KIA the South Korean company have made their debutes in the last two months .

MG motors and KIA motors both have done their research towards Indian market and utility of customers. Hence the started their sales with the most exciting and loved segments of cars The SUV segment and spiced it up with all the latest infortanement systems and aggressive design language . The most grossing segment in the current market.

#MG MOTORS

MG motors lauched it’s Flagship SUV the MG Hector Wich was an immediate hit for the company making a 13,000 booking for the car in the first month (June) and 8,000 booking for the month of July. Causing a waiting list of 6 months for some variants . The demand for the car was so high that MG can’t cater such high demand considering it that it has just started it’s journey in India . Hence MG has temporarily stoped reservations from 19 July . And wants to work on existing customer satisfaction and expansion of manufacturing.

#KIA MOTORS

KIA motors yesterday lauched it’s first Flagship SUV the KIA Seltos which is also satisfies the requirements of aggressive design and latest technology shared by it’s sister company Hyundai. Surprisingly the KIA slatos has more demand than from it’s sister company’s Hyundai Creta. KIA has made a record of 6,000 bookings in it’s first day . Where the company was expecting 6,000 bookings per month it turned out it’s 6,000 bookings in a day which is mind boggling.

These car companies have successfully targeted the guru mantra for wining Indian consumers Hart’s

“A Good looking SUV with the latest specifications and affordable pricing.

#Impact on existing car companies.

Companies like Maruthi Suzuki, Honda, Ford, Toyota who where doing good in India but not having much cars in the SUV segments are Losers in the race . Do doubt Maruthi has some of the most promising affordable cars but with the craze of SUVs the company needs to evolve soon . Honda is also an victim of this segment , with the CR-V Priced quite high compared to these Flagship cars offering almost the same specifications at a much affordable rate . Honda really has to do something extra ordinary to have a comeback. Ford and Toyota have their own ultimate SUV , The Ford Endaver and Toyota Fortuner which are the most capable among all . But with an high price tag it comes under premium SUV in India.

Due to success of KIA Hyundai also makes plans to launch it’s Genisis premium car brand in India

#Honorable Mention

Honorable mentions the Hyundai Creta , Tata Harrier , Buzzard and Jeep compass are also offering cars and where great hit at their lauch time has also managed I good job in catering the customers need but they lacks to offer some of the qualities that Indian customers demand for and are expected to have a fall in their demand due to increase in competition. However an update to the right side maybe a game changer . It is the setbacks of updated specifications and little over pricing accompanied by brand trust plays an important role now .

Lotus is ready to bloom

The iconic British automaker has entered the EV market with out of the box specs .

•It is a all electric hyper car which produces 2000Ps of power and 1700 Nm of torque

• Expected 0-100 acceleration is under 3 seconds with a top speed of 325km/hr

• 4000 km range and can charge completely in 9 minutes , which is mind boggling

• It is the current lightest electric hypercar weighing 1680kg

• Priced at €1.7 millions which will hit the production line by 2020

The Evija is the perfect reply to ongoing Paganis and Koenigseggs .The Evija, when it goes into production in 2020, will be the most powerful series production car, with a staggering 2000PS of power and 1700Nm of torque from four electric motors and a lithium-ion battery pack supplied by Williams. Initially codenamed the Type 130, the Evija is the first new product from Lotus since it was acquired by Chinese automotive giant Geely.

Each motor of this car will produce 500PS of power. The car has a mind boggling stat of it’s charging , it can charge itself completely in 9 minutes with the help of 800kwh charging . But the 800kwh model may not be in grounds with the local power offerings . Hence the production model will support 350kwh charging which will charge it completely in 18 minutes. In comparison the current fastest charging EV is the Tesla model 3 which takes 35 minutes to charge upto 80%
Lightweight and focussed cars have always been Lotus’ forte and the British brand is renowned for its road cars and race machines alike with iconic names like Elise, Evora, Esprit, and Evora. The Evija ( pronounced E-vi-ya) also stays true to the manufacturer’s obsession for naming cars starting with the alphabet ‘e.’ Lotus has also followed their same light-weight philosophy for the Evija. The carbon monocoque tub weighs in at a mere 129kg and the whole car without the battery pack tips the scales at around 1000kg. It weighs 1680 kg with the battery pack, making it the lightest all-electric hypercar ever. To improve weight distribution, aerodynamics, and packaging, and stay close to Lotus’ history of mid-engined cars, the battery is mid-mounted in the Evija
The styling of the Evija echoes the brand’s ethos and every single exterior element is there for multiple reasons, the most important one being aerodynamics. The Evija features two unique venturi tunnels in each rear quarter. The outline of these tunnel exits serve as the tail lamps and the ‘ Lotus’ badge also lits up, adding more drama. Active aerodynamics are taken care of by a rear spoiler, and an F1-style Drag Reduction System (DRS). The Evija also comes with cameras instead of traditional door mirrors to reduce drag. Magnesium 20 and 21-inch wheels shod with Pirelli Trofeo R tyres are used at the front and rear along with AP Racing carbon ceramic discs and adaptive dampers to keep the unnerving 2000 horses in check.

However Evija is not still the ultimate EV as the acceleration is comparatively slower to the competition as Evija accelerates from 0-100 under 3 seconds , The Rimac concept two does it in 1.8 seconds and Pininfarina Butista also does it under 2.0 seconds even. In case of top speed Evija lacks behind it’s competition catering a top speed of 320 Kmh rather than the faster 350kmh competition.

Apollo motors brings De Tomaso back to life

• Chassis is shared with the same chassis of Apollo

De Tomaso known for it supercars cars in the 90’s I back with the best. Awaken from hibernation De Tomaso goes aggressive with it’s 2019 hypercar The P72 of which 72 units to be produced.

Guess who’s back? That’s right – the name behind some hugely desirable cars such as the Pantera and the Mangusta is being brought back to life just in time for its 60th anniversary. To celebrate its return, De Tomaso has released images and preliminary details of its all-new car called “P72” set to pick up where the P70 left off.

The P70

HISTORY

First, some background. Back in the early 1960s, company founder Alejandro de Tomaso teamed up with none other than Carroll Shelby to work on the P70 – a name derived from Prototipi and the engine’s massive 7.0-liter displacement. The plan was for Alejandro to engineer the car with a modified version of the 4.7-liter Ford V8 engine, Carroll Shelby to provide the necessary budget, and Peter Brock to handle the design. In case the latter’s name doesn’t ring a bell, he was responsible for the design of important cars like the Shelby Daytona Coupe and the Chevy Corvette Stingray

Due to tensions between Alejandro and Shelby, the P70 project was halted. However, De Tomaso’s founder was not willing to give up and he teamed up with coachbuilder Ghia to finish the car. Renamed the “Ghia-De Tomaso Sport 5000,” the vehicle made its public appearance at the Turin Motor Show back in 1965.
It seems like the engineers had a lot of time to sculpt this beauty of a machine that seems like an amalgamation of the DNA of Ferrari, Alfa-Romeo, and Pagani. The P72 is still a little mysterious, but we do know that the chassis is made up of carbon fiber cells, carbon crash structures, and carbon mounts for the suspension. The chassis has been done by HWA AG motorsports company, which is the same company that worked on the Mercedes-Benz CLK-GTR. The car is equally rich inside, with brown leather being used all around the cabin, subtle touches of chrome, and retro dials sticking behind the flat-bottom steering wheel. De Tomaso has yet to reveal what powers the P72, but we do know it will feature a mid-engine layout and a manual transmission.

Fast forward to 2014 and the brand has been revived by IdealVenture, a Hong Kong-based company run by Norman Choi that is also credited with the creation of Apollo Intense Emozione – a GT1 racecar-inspired V-12 engine supercar. Choi and his team decided to continue the heritage instead of building something crappy and slap it with the De Tomaso moniker. The team’s dedication is clearly evident because instead of using De Tomaso’s most famous creation to date, the Pantera, for brand recall, the company instead took a different approach. Choi and his team decided to give the P70 a well-deserved closure, and by the looks of it, did complete justice to the brand.

Volkswagen breaks 20 year old hill climb record at the Goodwood festival of speed

The iconic supercar festival held for decades now has just got a new record for its hillclimb event after a span of 20 year’s now . Nick Heidfeld’s historic run has finally been bested.Update July 6th, 1:10PM ET: Dumas broke his own record on Saturday by laying down a 39.9-second run up the Goodwood hill.
The Volkswagen I.D. R electric racecar just broke a 20 year old record at the annual Goodwood Festival of Speed hill climb. Driven by Romain Dumas, the I.D. R made the climb on Friday in just 41.18 seconds, which is a half-second clear of former F1 driver Nick Heidfeld’s hairy 41.6 second run back in 1999.
The record-breaking performance comes just one month after Dumas smashed the elctric vehicles record at Germanys famous Nerboring gin the 680-horsepower I.D. R, taking the title previously held by the EP9 supercar built by Chinese EV startup NIO. Dumas also holds the record for the fastest runner up Pikes & Peak, which is the event for which Volkswagen built the I.D. R in the first place.
To be fair to Heidfeld, who made his record-setting run in a McLaren MP4/13 Formula One car, the I.D. R was explicitly designed for venues like Goodwood. You can see evidence of that in the video of Dumas’ run, too. The mighty racecar looks almost bored as Dumas slices up the Goodwood hill. Compare that to the video of Heidfeld slinging the 780-horsepower V10 F1 car up the hill 20 years ago, where every touch of the steering wheel makes it look like he’s about to glide through the wind
This wasn’t Dumas’ first run up Goodwood in the I.D. R. He and Volkswagen brought the car to the festival last year and set the all-electric hill climb record as well as the third-fastest time overall This time around, the Volkswagen I.D. R arrived at Goodwood in its new Nürburgring trim. The lower rear wing, plus the work the company did to improve the internals of the car over the last year, appears to have given Dumas a historically potent competitor. He’s not done running it up the Goodwood hill, yet: by the time the weekend is over, don’t be surprised if Dumas puts a little more distance between him and the 20-year-old record he just broke.

Indian budget 2019 slashes GST on EV to 5%

Good new as the Indian government plays an important role in promoting electric mobility future by slashing EV taxes from 12% to 5%

  • Proposed GST rate cut yet to be approved by the GST council.
  • Total benefits on loans taken on EVs is upto Rs 2.5 lakh.
  • Government has also set aside Rs 10,000 cr under its FAME 2 scheme for EVs.

The electric vehicle industry in the country is set to get a major boost as the government today announced that it has asked the GST council to consider slashing the current rate on EVs from 12 per cent to 5 per cent. Presenting the Union budget for 2019-2020, The finance minister continues to boost the EV industry by showing her interest in more EVs on road which will help cities like Delhi , Mumbai , Banglore recover from their from their poor pollution rate. The future towards EVs will also boost the government campaign of Make in India boosting the Indian economy as well , In short will help people to adopt the more efficient EV technology in the country
With the GST rate on EVs set to reduce, we can expect electric vehicles to get more affordable in the near future. In addition, the government has also announced additional benefits on the purchase of EVs in the form of tax sops. The government will provide an additional income tax benefit of Rs 1.5 lakh on interest paid on electric vehicle loans, which over the tenure of the loan could translate to total benefits of up to Rs 2.5 lakh. The savings on these would depend on the tax slab under which the customers fall, but no matter what, it will definitely boost sentiment for EVs while acting as an additional incentive to get one.

Anotherimportanannouncement came in the form of customs duty exempted on certain parts of electric vehicles. Given that most essential EV components are currently imported from outside India, this move will also aid manufacturers in lowering the costs of development of EVs in the country, until these parts are locally manufactured. The government has also envisioned India to be among the global manufacturing hubs for EVs in the world. For this, not only will it promote setting up of megafactories for Li-ion battery manufacturing in India, it will also provide upfront incentives for setting up charging infrastructure in the country
Apart from the announcements made today, the government has already set aside Rs 10,000 crore for Phase-II of FAME Scheme to be utilised over the next 3 years. With these, the government has once again clarified its stand to push e-mobility in the country. The announcements made today could go a long way in kick-starting the electric revolution in the country. With manufacturers like Hyundai and MG bringing in long-range EVs like the Kona Electric and the eZS, respectively, the stage is set for other carmakers to follow with their own offerings. Both these cars are likely to benefit from the lowered GST rates and the tax benefits, thus lowering the total cost of ownership of these otherwise expensive vehicles. So if you’re looking to hop on to the EV bandwagon, now might just be the right time

Toyota is testing solar roof panels on their cars

Toyota the Japanese automaker has started to show it’s interest in the EV future. It has started ho solar roof which will be able to charge their vehicles on the go

Additional 45 km range a day with these panels

Toyota will start testing solar roof technology on the Prius the famous plug in hybrid by the automaker, which will add an 45 km of additional electric range to the car at the end of one day drive . The solar panels will be provided by an other Japanese company Sharp . These panels will be just 0.03mm thick, but deliver around 860 watts of power, and can even charge the car while it’s being driven
Testing is due to start on public roads later this month, but there’s no word on when it might make it into a commercial vehicle.

Is this technology new with Toyota?
This isn’t the first time Toyota has made solar panels available for its cars. Way back in 2010 the company that could be used to recharge the car’s auxiliary battery (which powers secondary systems like the sat-nav and climate control). The difference here is that the new panels are much more efficient. They’re capable of producing almost five times as much power as the previous model, and can give over seven times the amount of range

How is it relevant in comparison with the Lightyear One?

Since Toyota currently doesn’t have any EV’s it has to try this experiment on their already existing plug in hybrid the Prius . Where as the Lightyear one is a complete EV that only provides 12km of additional range per days charge on the go with the help of their current solar panels , on the other hand Toyota caters 45km which in comparison is quite a lot . Hopefully Toyota will soon be able to bring this technology to their future EVs.

Toyota’s EV future
Toyota has previously justified its decision to focus on hybrids by saying that if it uses its battery production capacity to produce a larger amount of hybrids, then it will reduce carbon emissions more than if it produced a smaller amount of pure electric vehicles. However, last month it announced plans to produce an all-electric drivetrain platform in partnership with Subaru, indicating that an all-electric Toyota could arrive eventually.
Considering the relatively minor power output you can get from putting solar panels on the roof of a car compared to the roof of a building, not to mention the challenges of doing so, it’s not surprising that the idea hasn’t really taken off yet. But there are a few companies experimenting with it. Most notably, the startup Lightyear plans to start delivering its solar car to customers in 2021, and Hyundai also announced plans to start installing solar roofs on select cars last year.

The Lightyear One (solar car).

The Lightyear one is the technology light-years away from normal EV’s ?

• The Lightyear one is a electric car with 450 miles of range and an additional 12km range which is produced by the solar panels on the car.

12km does it makes any difference?

Actually it is a well wished technology in it’s early stages. Everyone wants a car that can charge itself while it’s on a run which will save time, with the plus point that solar energy is free for many markets.
Lightyear has unveiled the first prototype of the Lightyear one, an electric vehicle covered in solar panels that it plans to start delivering to consumers in 2021. The car company was founded in 2016 by ex-members of Solar team Eindhoven, a team of engineering students who won the solar-powered World solar Challenge race in 2013, 2015, and 2017

While the team claims that the car will get 450 miles (725 km) of range from its built-in battery, the real draw is the car’s five square meters of solar panels, which cover its roof and hood and can charge the car’s battery with up to 12 km of range an hour. Lightyear claims these solar cells are 20 percent more efficient than traditional models, and they’re encased in safety glass to protect them from damage.

Twelve kmh isn’t a lot of charge, so it’s probably better to think of the Lightyear One “solar car” as a 450-mile electric car that also happens to have solar panels. If true, that would be a pretty impressive range by itself, outpacing the market-leading 370 miles of range that the Tesla Model Sis capable of, even taking into account differences in electric vehicle range standards

The Lightyear One is covered with a total of five square meters of solar panels. Image: Lightyear

Thankfully, considering how little power you’re going to get from sunlight, the Lightyear One can also be charged like a more traditional plug-in electric vehicle. It will support up to 60kW of fast charging, giving it 507 km of range per hour of charge. The car has a total of four electric motors, which will allow it to accelerate from 0 to 100 kmh in 10 seconds.

Lightyear was founded by a group of former University of Eindhoven students who won the World Solar Challenge race with their “stella” solar cars. These vehicles were actually able to generate more power from their solar panels than they consumed on average, meaning you could end a journey with more charge than when you started.

Stackmann also said VW will offer a full warranty on the ID.3’s battery for up to eight years, 160,000 km (just under 100,000 miles), or the depreciation of the battery to 70 percent of its original maximum capacity. He added that the car will be equipped with advanced driver assistance technology, but did not go into detail about pricing.
